    LUKE SWIFT, DNP, APN, PMHNP-BC

Medical Director & Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

I received my Masters in Nursing and my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Rush University specializing in Psychiatry and am a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have experience at the inpatient, residential, and outpatient psychiatric levels of care. My passion is working with individuals and groups coping with any and all psychiatric disorders.

As a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, I strive to bring focus back to treating you as a whole rather than an isolated disorder. My focus in treatment is to provide a holistically dynamic integration of talk therapy and medication therapy with the goal of helping you lead a life unhindered by your mental health.

JOI HENRY, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, CNL

    Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

As a Chicago native, I understand how the noise and distractions of the city can easily mask the storm brewing on the inside of us. When it is time to face ourselves, it can be difficult to know where to begin. As a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I want to partner with you on your journey to healing.

I received my doctoral degree from Rush University and I have over 5 years of experience with child/adolescent and adult mental health disorders. I became a psychiatric nurse practitioner to help those who may struggle with asking for help, and to normalize mental health care and therapy in communities that may be more resistant to seeking treatment. My goal in medication therapy is to help you develop a treatment plan that best fits your individualized goals. As your provider, I will ensure to empathize and understand how social, emotional, physical, spiritual and financial factors impact your mental health.

You might be wondering what exactly a DNP-PMHNP is  – here’s the rundown:

Our Psychiatric team at MBC includes Doctors of Nursing Practice (DNP) who are Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP) and can assess, diagnose, and deliver care to individuals, families, and groups to assess and treat psychiatric and mental health needs. This means they provide the full range of psychiatric-mental health care across the lifespan and can prescribe medication and administer psychotherapy.

DNP-PMHNPs practice in a variety of diverse settings, including private practice, institutions of higher education, hospital settings, community mental health centers, psychiatric home-care programs, and forensic mental health programs. They also work as members of community-based, intensive case management teams. In addition to working directly with patients and families, DNP-PMHNPs are qualified for leadership roles in healthcare settings. Here at MBC, we believe in the power of Nursing and are proud to be one of the few, if not only, clinics in the Chicagoland Area that is Nurse-led and directed by a PMHNP.

Being a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner requires compassion, sensitivity, and exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. We love that our psychiatric team sees the human being in everyone and knows that a person isn’t defined by their mental health condition. They are deeply curious providers and will meet you where you’re at to start mapping your road to wellness. Make an appointment here or see the groups MBC currently offers here.
