    Dr. Baheia A. Derweesh completed her bachelor degree in Sociology from Birzeit University and graduate degree in Counselor Education from Northeastern Illinois University and a doctoral in education from Argosy University.  Prior to joining National Lewis University, she was Student life acting chair/ Lead Counselor and lecturer at the Higher Colleges of Technology in Abu Dhabi for the past 8 years.  Dr. Baheia held the position of Psychotherapist at the American Center for Psychiatry & Neurology in Abu Dhabi from 2004-2010 as well as Care & Rehabilitation Director for the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children from 2008-2009.  She was the Director of clinical program at Baheia Derweesh, LCPC from 2010-2017.

    Baheia has many years of experience working with trauma survivors (includes domestic violence and sexual assault), and War Victims.  She is experienced in working with Depression, Anxiety, Eating disorder, and children with behavioral issue.  Baheia offers therapy in both English and Arabic.

    Recipient of many awards including the Arab American Action Network Outstanding Commitment to Empowering the Community, the Fitzer Award of Administrative Services, Metropolitan Family Services, Graduate College, Northeastern Illinois University and Jane Adams Graduate Scholarship, Northeastern Illinois University.
