Meredith Raque, MAAT, LPC
It can be difficult to be your true authentic self. Painful emotions such as shame, guilt, doubt, and anxiety can feel chaotic in the body. You might find yourself trying to manage these emotions through a variety of distractions including substances, food, over-working, and avoiding. Continuing to distract yourself may be helpful in the moment, however, it may not be sustainable. Imagine feeling more connected to yourself, to your values and goals, to your relationships. It may be a scary thought at first. These painful emotions that you’re carrying can feel like a weight that you have to hold and figure out by yourself.
I am here to tell you that you are not alone, you do not have to carry that burden by yourself, and you deserve to reintegrate and reconnect with your life. I offer a direct, transparent, and caring environment. I believe you are the expert of your own experience and that the client-therapist relationship is collaborative.
My ability to experiment with art, movement, play and music into the therapeutic process can assist you in exploring emotions safely and non-confrontationally. I am committed to supporting you through self-expression and deepening your understanding of yourself and your experiences to re-establish feeling empowered in your mind, body, and spirit.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Art Therapy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I am currently working towards my certification in EMDR Therapy and am currently healing trauma through EMDR with my clients.
