MacKenzie Rotherham, LPC, holistic therapist in Chicago offering individual therapy

Psychotherapist
Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

If you’re searching for a holistic therapist in Chicago, I offer compassionate, grounded individual therapy for adults seeking greater connection and clarity. Often, clients come to therapy while navigating life transitions, anxiety, identity questions, or a sense of feeling emotionally stuck despite their best efforts. In our work together, we co-create a space rooted in curiosity, mindfulness, and care—one that supports healing, insight, and meaningful change.

At Mind Body Co-op, I provide individual therapy in Chicago for adults and emerging adults, as well as virtual therapy across Illinois. My ideal client is open to reflection and curious about what healing can look like emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and somatically. At the same time, whether you are a student, professional, athlete, or caregiver, I strive to offer therapy that is culturally sensitive, nonjudgmental, and empowering. As a holistic therapist in Chicago, my work centers on helping clients explore healing across emotional, mental, spiritual, and somatic dimensions.

Clinical Approach as a Holistic Therapist in Chicago

My therapeutic approach is relational, trauma-informed, and holistic. I integrate evidence-based practices while remaining attuned to the mind–body connection and each client’s lived experience. Modalities I commonly use include:

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
  • Emotionally Focused and Somatic Therapy
  • Feminist, Multicultural, and Strengths-Based frameworks

Additionally, as a certified yoga teacher, I may incorporate embodied awareness practices when appropriate. My work is grounded in cultural humility, intersectionality, and a deep respect for each client’s autonomy and lived experience.

Background & Experience

I hold a Master’s degree in Community Counseling and a Master’s degree in Higher Education from Loyola University Chicago, where I also earned my B.A. in Psychology and Gender Studies. My professional background includes:

  • Over five years supporting undergraduate and graduate students
  • Four years of non-profit and community advocacy work
  • Culturally rooted work in Southern Africa, particularly Lesotho, which shaped my commitment to equity, land-based healing, and intergenerational connection

As a result, I am especially passionate about student mental health, spiritual integration in therapy, and creating spaces where clients feel deeply seen and supported.

Let’s Connect
